How To Write A Book: Simply Start Writing

Want to write a book? You can. You start writing, and you keep going. At around 80,000 words, you've got yourself a book. Now what? You sell the book to a major publisher, hit the bestseller lists, and order your new cherry-red Ferrari.

Writing has a beginning, middle, and an end. Some writers start at the end and then try to figure out how the story got there. Others like to start at the very beginning and work their way through to the end. And still others start with an idea that could be anywhere in the story. They just simply start.Start writing is the best advice any new writer can learn from an old pro. But, when they start talking to several old pros, they come to realize that there is no one way to begin. Each strategy works for each writer, so new writers may want to try several strategies until they find what works. But if you really want to hold a writer's imagination to the fire to get a definitive answer to how to write a book, then please read on.

Start with an outline just like your English teacher taught you. The first part can be about who the characters are, what they do and how they are connected. The next part can be about what you where you think your story will go. Think is the key word here, because your imagination may take an unexpected path.Write. Anything and everything is game. You may want to focus only on your idea, but you may find more freedom to put the idea in a different context to see where it goes from there. After you have written your story you will revise and edit. You will find many directions and then you will find the right one. And then when you are done you will revisit, edit and revise again and possibly find another direction.

Let's imagine that you've read a Harry Potter novel, and you're so enthusiastic that you're inspired to write your own children's novel. The words pour out of you; you're on fire. You write and write and write, and the pages pile up on your computer's hard drive.This is great. While you're writing, ask yourself: "In a bookstore, where would this book of mine be shelved?"If you're not sure, go to a bookstore and wander around the shelves. Is your book in the nonfiction section? In the children's section? In the romance novel or mystery section?

Reward yourself when you're done. You need to put your manuscript aside for a few weeks, anyway. Even Stephen King follows this practice. So have a party or take a vacation. Refresh yourself before the real work, the re-writing, begins.

Here's my 'trick'. When I get an idea for a book I get a ring binder and label it with my book title. Then I chuck into that ring binder some blank paper and a few plastic punched pockets to store things in. Then as I go about my work over the coming days I'll just scribble down on the paper in my folder any ideas I get which might be useful for the book. Also if I see any articles in newspapers or magazines, I'll rip them out and place them in the plastic pockets in the binder. Similarly, if I see a web page which might have some value to my book, I'll print it out and shove it in the binder. I do not make any value judgements, I do not try to put things in order, I simply chuck everything that might be useful into the ring binder. I also jot down questions that people ask me that are related to the book subject and I try to come up with my own questions which the book might answer. Anything and everything is collected into the ring binder.

Be it far from me to suggest that prayer does not work. But remember, the verse I quoted is from the Word of God. He is the one who says that lazy hands make a man or woman poor. All the praying in the world won't compensate for laziness.

Follow your dreams and build your foundations. You have dreams and these dreams are significant of what you want to accomplish in the near future. If you already have set up your goals, then you can definitely picture what your future is, now you need to build foundations, and these foundations should be strong enough to keep you going with no hesitations.Get out from your comfort zone. Those who aim to achieve the best of what they can be, should get out from their comfort zone. Whereas, to succeed in life you need to improve and grow, you would not be able to do this while you are in that crib. Get my point?

Some people are amazingly nave about life. They seem to think that success in life is happenstance. But this is an extremely competitive world in which we live. Even finding your so-called dream job these days is much harder than it used to be. Regardless of your aspirations, however, you can become a success in life. It's called being diligent: doing what's required to gain the competitive edge; never giving up; refusing to accept defeat; living a life of integrity.

There is immense pressure on us to be successful. Be it that it comes from society, family, friends, or from our own selves. We all want to be successful, we want to reach this distant success. Define your idea of success Everyone has a different idea on the definition of success. You need to have your ideologies straightened out to plan your goals. Your idea of success is not a goal let's be clear. Your idea of success is your visualization of what it is that makes someone successful. For example, my idea of success is self growth and experience. I believe with these things, I can become the best person possible over time. With that said, I now plan out my goal.Obviously, there are two types of goals: Long and short term. Goals are a must. I think of them as checkpoints and once you complete them, they are behind you. You just keep looking forward.I believe this one to be the more important of the two for one reason: confidence/reassurance. The correct way to have a short term goal is to make it for a short time. I would say daily. I would write down a list of what you need to do that relates towards your long term goal. As the days, weeks, months go by, you will look back on that list and see day after day that items are crossed off your list. Nothing is stronger than visually seeing forward process by looking at your to do list being completed day after day.

Those who create lives of greatness know that they are the one who determines what they are capable of. Whereas those who accept lives, which are average and ordinary, allow life itself to determine for them what they are capable of. Those who create lives of greatness are not afraid of "stretching themselves developmentally out of their comfort zone," in terms of growing the ideas in their head. Only the average and ordinary life finds comfort in staying true to what is already known, in terms of "accepting reality."If you find yourself, desiring something which is "not realistically possible" to go after, ask yourself the question "Why is it not realistically possible to achieve?" Asking this question of yourself over time, while being "quiet inside with an open mind," may bring you a surprising answer. Sometimes in life, we are actually meant to not succeed in something we are attempting to create new in our lives. The reason for this is that we sometimes have to "develop something within ourselves first," and this hypothetical "failure" is a part of that process.

Lifestyle If you want to be successful, you have to live the lifestyle of success. What do I mean by that? Well, to be a writer, I would live the life of a writer. I would read, write, write, write, read, go to conferences, talk to other writers, attend classes, write, and read. You get the picture. Every aspect of your life should be around your goals. A writer once told me "I work full time to support my writing." I respected her for saying that. She made good money but her life and passion was to write. So she literally just worked so she could live day to day writing.You want to surround yourself with people that have the same goals as you. It's good for a competitive drive, inside information, inspiration, and positivity. For me, I feel like I already met my goals when I have the people around me that have the same goals. I feel like a team. As a writer, surrounding yourself with other writers makes you feel accomplished and accepted as if I was a writer all along.Success is a mental game. You have to mentally endure the journey ahead and realize it's never easy obtaining greatness. You have to have that "no excuse" attitude and make things happen. Stop wishing and start doing. You should be positive. Success is more than having materials. A good mindset and some gratitude is a common trait among successful people. You will be amazed on what it can do for you.

So, this new lifestyle you dream to have will require a paradigm shift of some sort, and the changes should begin to take place from right now. With a set of goals that you have, and a plan of action of how you are going to get there, then you are bound to get there. Instead of how most people live, aimlessly and purposelessly.

If you are not sure how to get started or continue, I am sure you know how not to get started or continue. Use this if need be as a "tuning fork" as you move forward. No matter who you are, or what you choose to do, if it is from a space within you attempting to create your life of greatness, by way of growing yourself forward in this respect, know there is no greater life work with which to be involved.Trust yourself. Trust your creativity. Trust in your own direction. Trust that all you need will come to you, in one way or another. No one ever said adulthood was supposed to be easy and free of any challenges or difficulties. By the same token, no one ever said once you become an adult that you are finished "growing."If you wish to have a life of greatness, the choice is yours. If you will accept a life that is or will become average and ordinary, the choice is also yours. The world needs the greatness you have within you. En masse the world over, this is how we save the future of our world for our children, grandchildren, and beyond. Ask yourself, if this is too difficult for you to attempt in your life, what are you teaching the loved ones who surround you in your life?Do you teach them by the example of your life, how to create a life of greatness by always growing the best version of yourself possible? Or, on the other hand, do you teach them how to create a life that is average and ordinary because you live your life on "auto-pilot?"

It's not about thinking positive thoughts, and it doesn't matter if you are a positive person or a negative person. This book is about getting rich first. It's about following specific principles. It's not about dealing with your baggage or changing your mindset in a way that you become a more positive person.This is not a study of metaphysics, and you don't need to know how it works to make it work.It's like using a computer. You learn how to use a computer, but you don't have to know what hardware or software is in order to make it work. You also don't need to know the internal workings of a computer to learn how to operate your computer.

I will not hide the truth any longer. Getting rich is an exact science, and anyone who is aware of this science can accumulate all the riches they want. And it case you were wondering how you could learn this science, then there is a little green book and an audio program, which hold all the answers.The little green book I am referring to is "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace D. Wattles, which was written over a century ago. In this book the author presents the main principles of the Science of Getting Rich in an easy to follow and simplistic manner to the extent that one might wonder whether it could be that easy. A client wrote, "Help me! I thought I was finally getting a handle on my weight issue but the sugar is killing me. I had an awful day. Most people don't realize that alcohol is actually the quickest acting sugar on the brain. In short, a "buzz" is actually a sugar high. The first research on sugar addiction in 2001 was conducted at Princeton University, and scientists have come so far since then that research is now focusing on how to address the problem (not whether or not it exists).

Eventually though, I managed to stay away. Among the last challenges: I really craved cigarettes when I was very stressed. And I was stressed a lot. And so I finally made a deal with myself. IF I simply HAD to smoke, I could -- ONE cigarette. And after that, it was back to all the Nicorette it took to get it back out of my system. It helped. Because, frankly, I didn't enjoy Nicorette at all.And finally, I started chewing a Nicorette instead of smoking a cigarette. And after a while, I stopped that too.Now with sugar, it's much the same thing. There's the taste, and then there's the physiological reaction. If you can manage to separate the two, it may take you along way on your path tame your sugar addiction.To eliminate the addiction factor, it was important to eliminate sugar completely, at least for a while. But would I really need to quit all the sweet stuff too?

Sugar tends to increase both of these important neurotransmitters, thereby altering the brain's biochemistry and correcting the deficiencies that may have been there. In other words, there are many people who are self medicating for specific deficiencies with sugar, and they are likely addicted to sugary foods for this reason. In addition, the sugar-free candy didn't trigger my addiction. I got the flavor, but my body didn't get involved. it didn't clamor for more, more, more.This may vary a bit though, from person to person. I found that stevia works best in terms of not triggering addictive reactions. Many people have found aspartame more problematic. You'll just have to experiment -- and be observant and honest with what you find.

While it may seem like a lot of effort simply to decide what you really want, going through these steps at the beginning helps you find potential obstacles which previously stopped you from moving forward. For example, if you decide you want to join a gym and start exercising every day but you've forgotten you don't even own a car and just lost your job, that exercise plan might not work out right now. If you did join a gym, you'd end up not going and then you'd think you'd failed, yet it was the plan that failed, not you. You didn't think it through. A better plan in this instance may be doing exercises at home, or within walking distance (or simply walking for exercise). Later, when you do have transportation, you can rethink the plan and perhaps join a gym then. There are always options.It's better to look at what you want from every angle, then put together a plan you know can and will work. It took me most of my adult life to come to the realization that I was an addict - out of control, unable to resist a seductive, toxic substance. I used it daily and relied on it to make everything right. No matter how bad I felt after the buzz wore off, I did not stop. I had to have it. The highest level of added sugar for the younger kids was 23 teaspoons per day and more than 26 teaspoons per day for the older kids.

This is different for different sugar substitutes though, so you may want to experiment. Stevia is the healthiest of the bunch, so whenever possible, choose that one. Also, try to reduce the sweetness of what you eat gradually when you have control, for example with coffee or tea. Learn to like it with less -- and eventually even without.depending on which sweetener you picked, you may find that you don't WANT to eat more than a small portion because eating too much of certain kinds, particularly sugar alcohols (maltitol, sorbitol, etc.) leads to major gastro-intestinal distress. So you eat just a little... That's what's called "self-limiting" in medicine, and it works great for sugar addiction as well.

The artist Vincent Van Gogh once said that the hardest thing to do other than paint yourself is to know yourself. Given his troubled background this is a fair reflection. One thing that can develop over a time is what is known as a fundamental lie. This is not necessarily something that is verbally expressed or even something we are aware of. But this idea is something that exists within our subconscious and has the potential to be incredibly destructive if it is not properly addressed.

One thing that blocks is this progress is what is known as a fundamental lie. In some respects this is the opposite of self realization because it is about denying the truth to yourself. It is a lie that people subconsciously believe and may not necessarily be aware of. For example someone who is told from a young age that they cannot sing may be put off singing and so may always be afraid of performing in public, even if they really wanted to.

For example say your parents were worried about you being hurt as a child. This could have meant they did not encourage you to play sports and may have continually told you to come down from high ledges or were a bit too quick to rush over when you cried and hurt yourself. While they may have meant well it can mean as an adult you have become cautious and you do not want to play sports or take risks as you worry about things going wrong.

Once you become aware that you can overcome this it then becomes easier to confront other obstacles. It is not about finding blame for these problems it is about learning how to find ways of coping and dealing with them. As you become more self confident it becomes easier to deal with difficulties. A good exercise to illustrate this is to look in the mirror and save five positive things about yourself. Sounds strange but this can often boost your confidence and help you deal with the day ahead.

This does not mean that stress will go away or that you will never have problems. No responsible coach or speaker should offer this as it is simply not possible. The path of self realization is about being aware of the problems around you and how you react to them. Over time you will become more sensitive to your reactions and adapt more easily.
