Dark Times & The Necessity Of Faith

By Evan Sanders

When things are looking pretty negative in life, it can be truly tricky to see the light. Fear, doubt, depression, uneasiness all creep in and the result does not look to good. Regularly we are so frightened to even feel these thoughts and emotions that we try to avoid them altogether, only finding that they come back time and time again. What's the way out? Is there a way out?

Through.

We must go through these things.

For most of us, we must grip onto our deep faith.

There really is a specific kind of magic and grace in being capable of getting close to your feelings - even the ones that hurt - without being consumed by them. It is like attempting to put your hand by a hot pan to feel the heat but at the same time trying to not burn yourself. These negative and painful feelings, while they test our soul seriously can become a source to our greatest healing however. They can take us places where we really have to bring our love and teach us about what needs some attention. Give yourself the real opportunity to truly experience these thoughts and emotions extremely without trying to run from them and change them and see how much you can learn. It's a challenging experiene to say the least, but it's an extremely rewarding experience in itself.

Can this experience be really unpleasant when you try it? Completely. But when we start to link into the darker energies of life, we give ourselves the greatest opportunity to compassionately deal with the things we may not have given much attention to during the past. These past events and unsightly thoughts and emotions will come knocking at our door solidly, and we are able to continue to pretend as if they don't really exist, or we can kindly allow them in and begin the conversation that has traditionally been required.

These times will test your faith...but isn't that the point of having deep faith in the first instance? Everyone needs to have something that we deeply know we will be able to go to despite any challenge that comes our way. So run to your loving faith when times get dark...you will always have a light.
