Reasons For Hiring A Gopher Exterminator

By Myrtle Cash

Even though to some the little critter would be considered cute, they are so much of a nuisance that an entire industry has grown around getting rid of the little guys. They are detrimental to yards, gardens, and yes.. Even humans. Many people have twisted their ankle and even broken their foot in a gopher hole. This is just one reason among the many to hire a gopher exterminator to handle the problem.

These little creatures do nothing but feed on the roots of your vegetables and plants. They dig their little pathways underground and in the process leave mounds of dirt here, there, and everywhere. These mounds end up damaging the blades of your lawnmowers too. So in addition to eating your vegetables and roots they are now destroying machinery.

The gophers burrow themselves a little hole that ends up becoming an underground maze that only they know the true way out of. This underground path takes them to all of their favorite eating spots. They will eat your roots, the bark off tress, any vegetables they can reach along with their root systems. The whole time tearing up your yard and gardens.

Problem is, he will most likely become the problem of some other poor fellow. All you did was pass him off on someone else. Anyway, at least you didn't kill him. That will make people happy. All except for you. So the next option then, since you don't want to pass him off is to poison or blow the guy up. That sounds fun.

So they do the next best thing that they can think of, they let it go somewhere. Typically they will drive somewhere far away from their home thinking the animal will not return. And they are right. He will not return to their garden but the unfortunate news is that they will now become the problem of some other unlucky person.

Gophers are a masterful little animal that somehow knows just how to get under a person's skin. That is the same reason they used a gopher in the movie Caddyshack. Because they are such a pest and one that people could relate to. Especially with the slapstick comedy that ensues from trying to catch one as they did in the movie.

Aside from destroying yards they will make little mounds that will destroy or damage lawn mower blades. They will bring insects along with them like ticks and fleas. These will just love to jump off the gophers and onto your family dog or cat. The best thing that you or anybody else can do is to get rid of them the first chance you get.

The best way to finish what the animal started is to call a gopher exterminator. They have been dealing with these little pests for a very long time and they have all the tools that they need to get the job done. They can accomplish in a couple hours what it could take you weeks to do. Do yourself a favor, call in the professionals.
