The early childhood has many activities involved in it. Most children around the globe are born with healthy bodies but have some illness conditions which might be hereditary or of unknown causes. In this stage, one of the illness which affect children is Attention Deficit Hyper-activity Disorder. It is not entirely natural for parents to know whether their child has the condition thus it is essential for them to take keen observation of their children. If an occupational therapist diagnoses the child with this condition, it is therefore recommended to take the child for therapy. The therapist is the professionals who help the affected child to address the illness thereby helping them learn how to relate with the surrounding. The professionals have a framework of programs and activities to furnish.

The therapist helps the child to improve the brain transmission of neurological signals from one area to another. This is achieved in several ways like providing vestibular, auditory, tactile and proprioceptive inputs. Equipment like balls, toys, brushes and other specialized designed therapeutic or recreational materials are used to provide these inputs. This treatment involves a combination of medication, counseling and behavior modification.

The children with this condition are taught how to self-regulate themselves. This is achieved by engaging the kid in activities that bring their brain activity up or down with accordance to their needs at a particular time. Music, dancing, bright lights and toys help to stimulate slow brain activity of a toddler. For instance, dancing makes the kid try to match the rhythm of the tones with his or her movement,

The specialist can also implement activities which help the child with a hyper-reactivity to cool down. This includes listening to cool music, dime lights, singing lullabies and ball squeezing activities. The above activities help the child to feel relaxed, and this can help a kid who is always constant in motion. The toddler who complies with the given tasks must be rewarded thus encouraging it.

A sensory timetable may also be provided to a child with the kind of stimulation they need to remain focused and able to acquire throughout the day. Some of the tasks include caring chairs arranging books, caring school bags and jumping on a trampoline. Other activities include playing tug of war, short race competitions, push-ups and jumping jacks. If the child was assigned tasks which involved intense academic work it is crucial to allow them more intense time for exercise.

This treatment is done with regular reviews of a child progress amending the therapy activities. The amendment is done to ensure the brain becomes more organized at different times of the day. Gum can also be provided to the child to overcome restlessness. Most of these activities are incorporated in the school day and home to ensure the toddler remains focused in learning. Parents and teachers should also be involved in the process since they spend most of their time with the toddler.

Hence, it is significant to ensure that a kid with such illness is taken to sensory therapy. The patient grows up with the ability to relate to the surrounding and people after undergoing this process. Clinicians and Pediatricians should update the parent on the limited treatment effectiveness as a result of the amount of research done and also enlighten them on the treatment process.
