How Does Creative Visualization Work?

By Allen I. Cruz

Ever think about why people tell you that if you can think of it, you can make it? It is actually true. Have you ever wondered about people who post pictures of their dream houses, describe their future partners, think of themselves as power executives someday? They have that gift of creative visualization - the method of figuring out what you want; making it come true, not only by doing things to have it but also, making pictures of it by thinking of it and posting images of it on walls.

Are you curious about it? Read on. Enlisted below are several creative visualization techniques that you can follow and make that dream come true, as well! When thinking of something you want to have, be sure that it is a reachable goal. You will never reach it if it involves something really impossible, right? Impossible can mean things that do not really happen in real life, like being an individual with the superhuman strength of X-Men and aliens. Make specific goals that you know you can have in time.

But in order to get there, you have to willingly suspend all other thoughts and concerns. Nothing else exists during your visualization but you and the voice on the visualization CD. Establish the vision. To get what you want, you need to know what it is. Start by writing down all the things you think you want. Don't edit yourself; just get it all down on paper. Keep writing. After a few minutes, you will have a complete list. Now choose one item from that list that's more important right now. You can go for the others later.

Record the details. Once you have your item, it's time to break it down and define it in detail. Get clear about what you want. If it's a new car, state the brand, the color, the model year, the major upgrades it has such as its leather interior. Specifics are very important here. You want it to feel so real - as though it's already in your possession.

Rewrite and refine. Once you've got it down, it's time to shape your description into something closer to exactly what it is you want. This creative visualization technique is like taking a rough idea of what you want to say in a letter-to-the-editor and then converting it into a polished piece that's ready to mail. Refine your goal into a powerful paragraph that describes exactly what it is you want.

Draw it out. Is your goal something that you can picture visually? If so, get a picture of what your goal looks like. If it's a car, get a picture of the exact car, or draw it as best you can. If your goal is to break through your fear and deliver a great speech, picture yourself on stage presenting to an attentive and appreciative audience. It doesn't matter if you're artistically challenged like me -- no one else is going to see your drawing. It's simply another way to convey your deepest desire to the universe.

Make a concrete visualization of that dream house in your mind. If possible, think of it regularly. You can make designs or picture drawings of that goal in mind. You can cut out pictures of it and place them someplace where you can see it each day - on your bedroom wall, on your refrigerator door, in your wallet.

Believe that you can have that goal someday. You need to believe that you will have that happen someday soon.Of course, you will need to work towards that goal. Having a dream entails you to work hard for it and do everything in order to have it. If it is that dream house you have, save money for it. Everything you do will have to be focused on that dream so as to take the necessary steps to coming closer to reaching it.As you work to have that dream, you will need to stick it out to the end. There will be setbacks and trials that will try to hinder you from achieving your dream but you will need to find ways in order to get to it still regardless of whatever happens.
