It is important to ensure healthy relationship between the client and the therapists as this is fundamental in promoting productive therapeutic processes. Therapy abuse refers to use unbalance power existing between the counselor and client to exploit, manipulate as well as control their client for personal gains rather than the interest of the client. This often occurs in divergent forms for example, abandoning the client, engaging into unethical conducts, encouraging dependency among others.

In most cases people tend to seek therapeutic services with an intention of improving their situation. This includes improving their relationship and resolving psychological challenges. This is often achieved whereby a good rapport is developed between the client and the counselor. Therefore, making it mandatory to enhance healthy relationship during this process, through this the client will express their feelings, thoughts and emotions.

During counseling process the counselee often have a significant amount as well as influence over their clients thereby making the therapeutic relationship imbalance. Client always respects the opinion and appreciates the guidance of their counselors. In some cases they are perceived as parents to client who had experienced childhood neglect and abuse. That is, the approval, validation and acceptance of opinion are replaced with what they did not receive during childhood. In addition, adult who had previously experienced childhood abuse are a higher risk of being abused in a therapeutic relationship.

It is important to note that in the therapeutic process the counselee have significant influences on their clients making the relationship between the therapists and the clients. In most cases, client respects their opinions and follows the guidance of counselor. Most individuals perceive such service providers as parents especially those who experienced abuse or neglect and child abuse. They approve, accept and validate opinion as it replaces those they did not receive during childhood. In addition, adults who had previously experienced childhood abuse are at higher risk of abuse during therapeutic process.

The power possessed by therapists has a lot of potential influence on their client. That is they can offer along lasting recovery plan or damage. Therapist abuse often occurs regularly, however few individual reports such incidences. The aftermath of such incidences is uncalculated as most of the victims end up hospitalized and attempt suicide.

One can easily tell that they are being abused by the service providers, for instance, unprofessional activities, humiliation, intimidation, degrading, making erotic or sexual suggestive comments that are most likely to intimidate their clients among other activities. This makes it necessary to seek such services from alternative service providers.

It is important to seek professional assistance when faced with such challenges such as being abused. You can talk to your parents, spouse, friends as well as family members. They also need to seek services from online data bases to access information about the best individuals and organizations. You need to file complain or a legal suit as well as contacting the police. Through this one will able to report the issues or challenges faced in such situations.

Most importantly, therapeutic process often involves assisting the client in dealing with their problems. This therefore, implies that if professionally trained individuals who are not experienced and licensed to provide such services are not engaged, quality outcome might not be achieved. This is instrumental in improving quality service to clients.
