Emotional Intelligence Certification Advantage On Employment

By Carol Collins

If a company is hiring the best employee for a job position, then they need to fully assess their employment history, family background, educational attainment, and health problem. You have to determine if a person is qualified or not according to how well they score in exams, and how good they respond to interview questions. But you cannot only base your ratings on that single aspect. Today, let us learn about the benefits you get in emotional intelligence certification.

Ability assessment has a huge factor in employment. They indicate how capable a person is aside from the textbook knowledge they learn from school or the values they learn at home. However, these authorities must also consider how emotionally fit a person is for the job they are applying for. Either computerized or written, most companies only offer intelligence quotient tests since it is more known.

Only few testing centers offer emotional assessments because it is less known and institutions have not yet provided the awareness and necessary information through conducting seminars. IQ tests are important, but they only determine how capable a person can be according to the amount of knowledge they acquire. Regardless if they are high in spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, naturalist, bodily kinesthetic, linguistic, or logical mathematical intelligence, it only determines a part of their abilities.

The problem is, only a few companies require this certification because they disregard its significance, or they are still unaware of its importance. The emotional stability of a person highly affects the quality of their work. If a person does not have enough motivation to wake up every day and fulfill his goals, then being knowledgeable about the job is not enough for assurance of longer employability.

A person might be intelligence in science but does not have the ability to combat stress. A person could be high in interpersonal intelligence according to the multiple intelligence scale and can mingle well with people, but when receiving negative feedbacks from them, he immediately quits the job. That means he is not emotionally fit for the environment.

These emotional tests are composed of items that are designed to discriminate emotionally healthy people from emotionally unhealthy people. Its usage has not been fully recognized by some institutions because of several reasons like lack of budget or unawareness. For an organization to keep their employees and minimize turn over, they must fix their assessment systems.

It is important to know how well an individual can cope up in pressure because of excessive workloads and seemingly unachievable deadlines. Another example, is regardless how smart an individual is in textbook information, it is not assurance that he could also deal with workplace conflicts. Disputes are common and one must be patient enough to deal with it.

Being emotionally fit for a job position is an advantage. The human resource department must evaluate the job description and identify the kinds of personalities that they must find in an applicant who can perform the tasks well. Otherwise, there will be constant turnovers.

To avoid turnovers, companies are making sure that they hire the best applicant for their company. Their personalities must match the demands of the job. Also, as a human being, it is our tasks to take care of our mental health. Self unawareness is dangerous. Mental health is always a factor in employment.
