Disposing of the full-body remains of a deceased person at sea is referred to as a burial at sea. Disposing of the remains is usually taken from aboard a ship or boat or from an aircraft. There are unfortunate times when the remains of the deceased aren't available for disposal, however, the farewells must still be said. A memorial at sea can be held and flowers scattered into the ocean as a sign of love for the lost.

Burial at sea is quite an expensive option for the private citizen to choose. There are so many rules and regulations, both federal and state, pertaining to this kind of disposal. The red tape and costs mounting. In ancient times this kind of burial was practiced all the time but that isn't possible now. For the deceased who have been cremated, a sea burial is a much easier and less costly affair for those left behind. Charter a boat at a nominal fee and scatter the ashes at sea.

Saying goodbye forever is a difficult thing to do. It is only fitting for someone who loved the ocean or was happiest on the ocean to see eternity there. Show your love and respect for them and let them rest on the waves. Their memory will always live on in your heart and mind.
