The Temple United Church has its roots based in the Protestant Christian Denomination. Over the years, tempe United Church of Christ has established over five thousand churches across the world and has taken in several millions of congregants. On top of that it agrees that there are two forms of sacraments, The Communion and Baptism and also acknowledges the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The requirement to always be in unity and unite others all across is one of the major beliefs held closely by the denomination. This has been portrayed by its involvement in the bringing together of nine different denominations that are present in America. In addition, it has involved itself in a worldwide council that is mandated to create common theological views.
Recently, the institution worked in conjunction with the United temple of Canada to find ways of working together in works of missions, ministry and worship. Through this agreement the bodies were able to share the sacraments and the congregants could be preached to by ministers from both sides. More so, the institution has worked together with religions such as the Muslim family.
The basic unit of this body is referred to as the local temple which most of the time is known as the congregation. The local churches are not given restrictions in terms of governing themselves but are however allowed to have their own organization structures. For this reason, the forms of governance are different among the churches, where some have independents boards and others have one form of council.
The body has famed itself with how greatly it has offered the freedom of worship among its local people based on the set covenants. Despite this, it has faced criticisms due to its stand on issues such as theological differences, political views and social matters. For example, its acknowledgement of same sex marriage was greatly defied, and they ended up losing some members. In addition some of allowance for campaigns within the congregation by certain politicians in America.
