The Changing Face Of Christ Faith Evangelical Church

By Sharon White

God has been speaking to the people of Homa Bay through a special messenger. Christ Faith Evangelical Church under the stewardship of Pastor David Oloo has been serving the lakeside town for over a decade now. God has prompted this ministry through its shepherds to take on a new name. It is now being referred to as Good Shepherd House of Worship.

The current church is constructed on Asego Hills in Homa Bay, a city in the western region of Kenya. The entire piece of land is estimated to be 50ft by 100ft. The dream of constructing the chapel was made a reality through the support of a well wisher and church member from America. He was thankful to God for blessing his business and thus dedicated his profits to the completion of this building. The structure has been instrumental in transforming the lives of people in the area.

In 2011, a chapel with the capacity to hold over 600 people was completed. The sponsor from US was thankful because God provided him with substantial sales that enabled him to fulfill his promise to the people of Homa Bay. To the well wisher, God was fulfilling his promise through a thriving business that could support missionary work in Africa.

As the shepherds were laying the foundation, there was a feeling that it should be named a House of Worship. However, at the moment, this was not possible. Five years later, the shepherds have heeded to the call to rename it Good Shepherd House of Worship. This change has been received well by the congregation that feels that the Lord is doing a new thing in their lives through the new tag.

The current minister is a youthful man called Pastor David Oloo. He took over the work from Bishop Nashon who is also his father and mentor. Under the guidance of the bishop, Pastor David has served for years and risen to the rank of Senior Pastor. The responsibility to steer this ministry to the next level lies in the hands of the youthful minister.

The ministry also runs an orphanage that takes in children whose parents have passed on due to the ravages of AIDS. This home has been serving the community for years now. It was founded upon realization that the extended families that would have adopted these children were too poverty stricken to shoulder an extra burden. The shepherds in the ministry took up the responsibility.

The needs of this family that was originally small and manageable have increased. The children have grown and now require more than food, shelter and cloths. They also require a way to guarantee a better future through quality education. Some have already joined vocational institutions to curve a better future for them and their families. All these are needs that require a huge muscle in terms of resources.

It is at The Homa Bay Orphans Life Resurrection Center that a lot of people have found a place to call home and be hopeful. The center also offers spiritual nourishment to the children and the neighboring community. It is from the support of well wishers that this has been made possible. This ministry has also been engaging in outreach programs aimed at delivering the message of God to neighboring villages through crusades. Everyone has a part to play in ensuring that the people of this place have the best experience with God.
