A Brief On Pastor David Oloo

By Janet Moore

God raises a servant for every generation to fulfill his will for the people. This is what He has done with Pastor David Oloo. The servant of God was called at a young age to minister to afflicted people in Homa-Bay, Kenya. His ministry work is guided by the scripture that instructs all humanity to love one another as one loves him or herself.

Obeying the voice of God, the man of God worked hard to establish an orphanage between 2005 and 2008. The orphanage targeted children left behind by parents who succumbed to the deadly AIDS scourge. They would find a home under the care of his father Bishop Nashon. Starting with a group of fifteen children, the home has gradually expanded and is able to accommodate more children.

The ministry has strained over time since the needs of children under his care have been growing. Older children within the home require more than shelter, clothing and food. The community requires the home to admit more children. His last resort at the moment is to appeal to well wishers to support his work so that no child seeking his assistance will be turned away empty handed or those already under his care go hungry.

A lot of support is needed to provide basic needs for a family of 25 that is growing fast. Many people have committed their resources and continue support the projects at home. The burden of caring for orphans weighs down on the families that take them in, considering that some of these families are already poverty stricken. Taking in more family members only serves to burden them further.

Pastor Oloo has given up his youth to serve the orphans and his ministry. Having given his all to the children and the ministry, his strength and resources are also overstretched. He learnt ministry and has worked as a senior pastor at Christ Faith Evangelic Church. This has seen the ministry grow by leaps and bounds. This ministry is in fact in the process of transforming.

The new name referring to what was previously Christ Faith Evangelical Church is Good Shepherd House of Worship. The aim of this change is to enable the faithful to encounter Christ closely as opposed to the traditional church setting. A new phase in delivering the message of God has demanded a new name, just like Saul changed to Paul.

The religious and ethnic diversity in Kenya has been viewed as a blessing. The beauty of its landscape is matched by a population that is both hopeful and kindhearted. However, this beauty fails to shine when a large number is suffering from sickness and poverty. It is upon the efforts of Pastor Oloo and well wishers to keep the smile on the faces of afflicted families and especially children.

The ministry has been transparent in administration of donor funds. It has engaged in projects that have transformed the lives of numerous children. Donors who have visited the home have been impressed by the progress. This is a course worth the attention of every Christian.
