They may end up drying excessively. The type of plants determines the method used in drying.

Water should later be added to the tank of the still. The water should be distilled and as soft as possible. Before starting the process ensure you have adequate water to run the whole process. The time consumed on the process is determined by the plant as well as the quantity. In case of hydro distillation, which is mostly preferred in case of delicate flowers, the plant materials ought to be freely floating in the water.

On adding the plant material in the distiller, it should be closed. The materials used must be touching the sides of this distiller slightly. As long as the layer is not going below steam outlet, it can be made thick. It should be waited to boil in water. On reaching 100 degrees, the plant releases essential oils. The distillate goes through the condenser to a separator.

Detergents as well as dirt are an enemy to the oil hence should be avoided as well. The special black container is later used to store the content. It is poured in there for use. These oils can be kept for more than 2 years.

The best stores of the oil is either stainless steel or dark bottles. This storage helps to improve on the time that the oil takes. The funnel to be used must be very clean. Finally the place used to store it must be cool and dark.
