Farms With Straw Bales For Sale

By Kristen Baird

Although farming is a very traditional occupation it still has many uses in today's modern world. At the heart of agriculture is a desire to work with the earth and produce food and other products. Many farms are located in the great plains area as the soil is very fertile. In some areas farms can cover many thousands of acres and provide employment for a large number of people.

A local farm can be anything from a hundred acres to many thousands of acres. In addition to straw bales for sale, most farms also offer a very interesting and diverse range of products. Establishing good connects with the local community is the best way to find and establish a consistent market for all the products. Even ones that have typically been considered waste are now being seen as a valuable commodity that can generate revenue for the farmer.

A large bale can be used for many things. One of the top uses today is for fuel. There has been a significant increase in the need for alternative and environmentally friendly fuels. These are often by products of other commodities and would otherwise be thrown away. Putting them to good use is a great way to save on natural resources and pollution.

One of the other biggest uses for a typical bale of straw is for animal bedding. Many horse owners use the bales to provide a warm and comfortable bed for animals. It is easy to transport, store and work with. After use it will rot down and can be recycled yet again as compost. This creates a win win situation and really helps the environment.

Many local farmers are only to happy to find new markets for the humble bale. As long as they have been stored in a dry place, they will last for many months. Halloween is one time of the year that many people like to decorate their homes and businesses. Setting out a bale or two, along with some pumpkins and chrysanthemums will really create a beautiful display. In addition, every component of the display can be recycled and does not need to end up in landfill.

Most farmers are willing to provide transport, especially for a large order of bales. They are designed to be easy to stack on trailers and unload at their destination. A large horse barn will need regular shipments of bedding and this can be a great way to use up an agricultural byproduct. It also helps to support the local economy and provide jobs for workers.

There are a number of different types of straw. Essentially what the term refers to are the stalks left behind once the wheat, barley or oats have been harvested. Each has a slightly different feel and value.

Straw can often be used to feed animals in winter. Both cattle and horse can eat oat straw as a winter fodder. It provides both bulk and nutrition that is readily available and affordable. Owners can pick up their bales at the local farm or have them delivered for an extra charge. In the depths of a brutal winter it can be this traditional food stuff that helps to keep many animals alive and healthy.
