What You Should Expect To See In Most Christian Churches In Las Vegas

By Raymond Stone

Most meetings will not be successful if the activities that should take place are not listed. The time for each activity is also allocated and although this usually applies to secular gatherings, it has also been observed to happen in the place of worship. The only difference between the church and secular gatherings where agenda is used is that in the church, there is no penalty for not doing exactly what was written especially when the Holy Spirit takes over. Some Christian churches in Las Vegas try to be organized by following a usual pattern for their service.

Starting with an opening prayer is good although this might come after the procession in some churches. This is necessary to invite God into the church. The warden, the priests and every other instrument the Lord will use all join in the procession. However, the procession does not mean that the people who joined are more superior to others.

After the procession and prayer, the Bible readers come on stage to read from different parts of the Bible. They read the Old Testament and the New Testament too. This is different from the message which comes up much later so there is usually no form of interpretation after the reading. Some ministers use the same passages read during the lessons to form the texts for their message.

The band starts their own business after the lessons have been read. They lead the congregation in singing praise and worship songs to the Maker. Usually, some of their songs for every Sunday are predetermined during weekly meetings before the Sunday so as to suit the type of service. However, even after the selection sometimes, they allow God to move by receiving fresh inspiration from Him.

The sermon is prepared by the priest or any other person he considers sound for the task. Normally, it takes at least 30 minutes so it usually lasts longer than any other item on the order of service. Apart from the passages from the lessons which the preacher may use, he also refers to many others which he also tries to expose. This is why people going to the churches usually have their writing materials apart from the Bible.

After the message, another round of praises is done for the offerings. People are expected to dance to the altar as they sing in appreciation of how God has been to them in the past week. Apart from the weekly thanksgiving offerings, others that are collected and prayed for include tithes, welfare offerings, and seed offerings.

The time for the announcement is usually towards the end of the service. It is the time when the congregation is reminded about what may be coming up during the week or on a later date. Visitors to the place are identified and welcomed with a song after which they are asked to see either the follow-up or welfare coordinator.

After everything, the recession comes last. Just like the procession, a recessional hymn is taken. The members of the church may know the hymn if it is a popular one but in case it isn't, they will be told where to find it in the hymn book the church uses. The priest then releases his last blessing after which the members begin to disperse if they have no other meeting or business to attend to.
