Fashion-Related Myths That Should Be Exposed

By Katie Onson

There's no denying the importance of fashion, but not everything you know about it is accurate. Fashion enthusiasts across the board will tell you the same, seeing as how there are a number of myths that people believe to this very day. With so much information that exists to the contrary, it's shocking to see just how much weight people place into these myths. Hopefully the following information will help to clear the air on the matter.

"Only vertical stripes create the impression of thinness." While vertical stripes certainly help in this sense, horizontal stripes shouldn't be overlooked. As companies the likes of Estelle's Dressy Dresses will tell you, horizontal stripes simply have to be worn in the right areas. This way, the aforementioned impression will be created no matter how the stripes are oriented. The best thing about this is that it can be applied to any article of clothing, including sweet 16 dresses.

"Blue and black never go together." It's been said that blue and black shouldn't be worn together, mainly due to the fact that they're close in shade. However, if you're smart about this, you'll be able to wear these colors together with ease. It's simply a matter of accessorizing so that these colors aren't exactly close to one another. In the fashion world, you'll learn that there are workarounds to virtually any scenario.

"Only one or two patterns, at most, should be worn." In the fashion world we live in today, patterns have taken a high level of priority. Instead of sticking to a single pattern, you should try to wear different ones together. It's entirely possible to do so, since they can work together in order to create looks that are nothing short of unique. The more willing you are to experiment, the more likely it is you'll come up with something special.

These are just a few of the most common fashion myths that should be debunked. It's important to note just how many mistruths exist in this industry, despite how popular it is. Fashion will only continue to grow and progress, with new styles coming in and older styles fading into the background. However, in order to make the most of it, you have to understand which details are the most accurate.
