Express Your Feelings In Drug Rehab

By Monique Sanchez

If you have a loved one that is in treatment right now, they are most likely going through group and one on one therapy. This is a time period in which an addict learns how to discover themselves in new ways. You have to look at your own life and ask yourself what matters the most. Most men and women want to get recovery from their addiction. However, they often feel like they are hopeless. It is important for friends and family to encourage the addict to continue down the road for sobriety. Sobriety often happens when you least expect. Most addicts get sober on their own.

Rehab is a time in which you decide on helping yourself. It is a wise decision to tell people how you feel. Alcohol and drug addiction often runs in families. When you first arrive at rehab, it is going to be a whole new experience. You will be given a shared room with someone that you have never met before. It is often hard to get someone to room with that you know. You most likely cannot get you own private room unless you are willing to pay $30,000 extra for it per month. Yes, it is that expensive. It is best to follow along with the rehab program and let your insurance company cover the major costs for treatment. Most treatment programs costs $30,000 for 30 days.

Until your son or daughter wants to get help, it is going to be hard for them to get the help that they need. Many addicts like to stay quiet during group therapy in fear of expressing their thoughts and feelings. It is important for addicts to know that there is no miracle cure for their addiction. It is something that they choose to work on. Many faith based programs for drug/alcohol say that you must have faith in order to overcome addiction. Even the great Bill Wilson (Founder of Alcoholics Anonymous) said that he could not overcome addiction without his faith. When he had a spiritual encounter with Jesus Christ, it changed his life forever.

Putting faith in with your sobriety makes complete sense. Addicts often feel unloved and unwanted. When they go into a faith based program, they want to help themselves. Most addiction programs give the addict books and religious material to read. You can really learn how to kick your addiction one step at a time. When you begin to overcome your obstacles in life, you actually learn how to overcome the pain and sorrow inside of your life. Let go and let God. God is the one person in your life that can help you.

Many addicts say that the first step is the hardest. Most addicts find that overcoming an addiction takes time and many years of experience. If you want to overcome any addiction, you have to ask someone to help you. Getting help for an addiction is not always easy. Many men and women spend years trying to overcome their battle with drugs. It is okay if you have your doubts about making it in a program. Express those thoughts with your counselor. They are going to want to know everything that you are feeling and experiencing inside of your heart. What matters the most if that you are honest with yourself.
